Aches and Pain

Woke up with a splitting headache Saturday morning. I'm not use to having headaches. That's just not part of my biochemistry. But Saturday it hit me hard. I came into work around 11:30 and by 12:00, I was dying from the pain. Tears rolled down my left eye cuz my entire left cranium felt like needles were poking into it. I muscled my way until 12:30, to finish up what I started and I threw in the towel and headed home. Popped an aspirin and slept from 1PM to 4PM. Woke up feeling a little better. Made myself a bowl of Doll Noodles...hoping the worst has gone by. Only to realize that the aspirin wore off. So I popped another aspirin and headed back to bed again. This time, I woke up around 6. I promised my mom I'll take her to IKEA...so I pulled myself out of bed and trucked up to Palo Alto.

IKEA wasn't as crowded as I expected - seeing it was Sales Tax Free Weekend. Maybe people don't see saving 8.25% as much. Hey...every penny counts. We found the dining table/chair set we wanted, but wasn't sure if the car would fit. Besides, the chairs we wanted were all gone. Had to wait till the next day for them to restock.

Sunday, woke up feeling like a million bucks. Went to church and had a grand ol' time. Pastor Chris and Grace's testimonies were so touching and tear jerking. I admire them so much for their courage and love for God. After Sunday School, we drove up to IKEA again to meet up with my brother. This time, we were sure there'll be room in his car. Found the dining table and the 6 chairs. And I guess I must've lifted wrong...cuz that afternoon, my back was completely shot!! I couldn't sit, couldn't stand, couldn't lie down!! I initially thought it may be walking around too much. Been working crazy hours so I haven't exercised much...so I thought maybe shopping for two hours made my back sore. No no no... last night I was in such pain, I couldn't even sleep for more than 30 minutes w/o waking up. I was tossing and turning, hoping to find a position that'll alleviate the pain. Around 3:30AM, the pain go so intense, I got out of bed, knelt down on the floor and started praying. Wasn't till like 6:30AM did I find a position that allowed me to have some real close-eye time. I laid on my tummy, with my elbows propping me up. The good part is, I was able to sleep for an hour. The bad part is, when I woke up, both my arms fell asleep. =(

Stopped by Safeway on my way to work to pick up some Advil. Hopefully it will lessen the pain for the rest of the day...and hopefully this pain will go away in a day or two. The last thing I need now is a herniated disk or a pulled muscle. Sigh...

I always thought I lifted with my legs...wonder why my back is hurting. Hrm....anyways, too tired right now to focus. The pain is distracting and the lack of sleep doesn't help.

Oh so wonderful is oh so many ways!!

Linear algebra...I thought I was done with math when I turned in my Fourier Transform Final junior year of undergrad. Now I'm back in a stupid math class. I love math...it's ingenius!! it's magical!! it's beyond words - that's why it's in numbers. But unfortunately, I'm not too good with math. =P

So I'm stuck at work at 12 in the morning doing homework. Spent 2 hours on two problems. I was about to give up. Call it quits. Go home and sleep...since I've been going on 4 hours again - running on low. But I decide to take a break and peruse through some b&s's blogs and xanga. It's amazing how encouraging their words are. So simple, yet so powerful. Whether it be Joyce's struggles in dental school...or Candy's lovely story....or Sandy's adventures in China. I finish reading them and back to work I go. And within seconds LITERALLY seconds, I finish my homework. The sad thing is, now that I'm done with homework, I can start doing work-work. Sigh.....hor beat leh??????

God is so wonderful. I got to spend the evening with Francisco. We went to eat a rather pricey meal at Applebees. Then we went to shop for furniture. Afterwards we hit up BestBuy and played videogames for an hour. I felt like a kid again. Lastly, we stopped by BORDERS and I had him read some children's books to me. That was really the main focus of the night. I'm a little disappointed he keeps getting tripped up on the same words. But at least he's downright absorbed into the life of Jesus. His love for Christ is exploding from within....it's contagious!!

Man...how much more OT will I have to put in? When will I have time to attend Prayer Meetings?

Finally signed the loan paper and took the cashier's check down to the title company. Closing escrow on Thursday. As of Friday morning, Joycie and I will officially be homeowners...woohoo!! Then comes the mortgage...booooooooooooooooooooo

Welcome back Mom and Dad....

Mom and dad flies in from Hong Kong today. They'll be bringing the ashes of my grandfather and grandmother. Two people whom I should love and adore...but can only do it in words. I have a few slight memories of these two figures. Without them, I wouldn't be here. Without them, who knows what the world would be like. Yet... we are willing to go halfway around the world, go back to our village in China, dig them up, go through all the hassel to let them Rest In Peace.

I also never met the man they called Jesus of Nazareth. He lived over 2000 years ago. Without him, I wouldn't be where I am. Without Him, who knows what the world would be like. What am I willing to do to please my Savior?

Went to church for the first time in a few weeks. Been so busy with the wedding photos and such. Skipped out on back to back fellowships/cell groups already. But hey...home is home. It felt so comfortable worshipping with everyone. Joycie and I are so blest to have this place called home.

Been very cranky and irritable as of late. Must be the stress, lack of sleep and weird work schedule. Must continue to pray for peace inside my heart. God blessed me with a dynamic personality...but I must not abuse this gift.

Sigh...Vivian and Yiu Chung are going back to China. I really want to go with them. But am I ready yet? Am I ready to cut-wings? So much on my mind and plate. Maybe I shouldn't rush things...maybe should get married first. Then go with my wife. Ai-yah....

Like watching my own son...

I'm so proud of Francisco. Like seeing my own son walking down the aisle on his wedding day.

Our Father is so awesome insomuch that Francisco is a walking miracle. From the time I inherited from Larry to yesterday night when he prayed before dinner. Teresa and I were dumbstruck at the maturity of his prayer. Completely dumbfounded us...it wasn't little stuttermouth talking. It was the Holy Spirit guiding his tongue.

Lord, continue to bless me and Francisco so that we can continue to assist each other in our ways and paths.

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday to me,

Happy Birthday to me,

Happy BIRTH-day to meee-eeee,

Happy Birthday to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Freaky...yet so amazingly Fascinating!!!

Ohhhhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyyyyyy Gooooooooooooooooooodnessssssssssssssss.....

It happened!!! I don't believe I heard someone speak in tongues!! The way ppl were putting it, it sounded very rarely does it happen. It must be a sign...it MUST be!!! Stupid me....typical engineer, I have to be all analytical. I tried to decipher which language it was instead of absorbing the essence of the prayer. Kinda like going to an opera. You have no idea what they're singing, yet you love every bit of it cuz the arias are beyond words, beyond definition, beyond comprehension.

Wonder what would've happened if Joycie didn't encourage me to go out?? Oh well...geez...gotta study the pamphlet now and hope Kwok-Wai doesn't fail me tomorrow. =\

Trying to catch up....

The news of me being a traitor spread faster than SARS back in 2002. In about two weeks, I'm going to leave my home for the past 2.5 years and start over with a new program. Excited I am, but at the same time, I'm sad. How are the people going to treat me over there? Are there any young people over there? What's the work load going to be like? Will there be another Giants lover in the group that can share my joy and sorrows? Bah...I've been longing to get out of this group for a long time. Finally get my chance and it's right when we're behind schedule. Now, people think I'm dropping the ball and not meeting the challenge. WHATEVER!!!

Wayland just got the pink slip. He along with 787 other teachers/staff at their school district. What is the governator doing?? Cutting public spending by cutting educational funds?? Holy Schmoly!! Last year he increased CSU and UC fees, then he increased community college tuition. Now he's cutting teachers and public school funding? And we voted for this clown to reshape California? And he wants to run for President? C'mon....don't matter if you're Democrat or Republican, you don't touch education!! You don't put 60 students in one classroom.

Closing in on another hectic week. This week was suppose to be my spring break too. Still gotta do my taxes, still gotta take care of my stock options, still needa plan the wedding.
